Presidential Elections

• Held every 5-years, in April

• Two rounds (unless a candidate receives more than 50% of the vote in the first round)

• French voters go to the polls on two Sundays, two weeks apart

• Register up to 6-Fridays before election day (with minimal exceptions)

• Paper-based

• Identity & correct polling place verified

• Signature is recorded after depositing ballot into a “one person one vote” ballot slot

• “Electoral Card” stamped with that election’s date
